This email resonated with me quite a bit, and I am really curious to know how this evolves for you. Although I am sometimes tempted, I feel like for me, taking a break to “figure it out” is not an option, because it’s not possible to solve life problems in the abstract. And often, when I find myself wanting something, I don’t trust it being a true need rather than just a romantic fantasy.
Additionally I have often found it rewarding to be involved in a project with other people and helping them and feeling like I’m contributing. But there is no way to get there unless I am involved...
I hope this didn’t come across as a criticism - I am also thinking about there topics and I’m appreciating your writing on the topic too
Thanks for your comment! I'm pretty curious how it evolves too...

I agree to an extent. In my case, I'm not taking a break to figure it out in the abstract, but cutting back on commitments to create space for other things to show up. I expect that what will show up is more desire to focus on the projects that I really care about, like writing. Right now I feel spread too thin to really focus deeply on the things I want to focus on.
Not seen as criticism! This is a tricky area — there's no right answer I think so good to see a variety of perspectives.
